Join Ascend Midwest Chapter for the When East Meets West: Myths of Asian Leadership event on

August 29, 2017

Please join us for an event that explores the extensive research
conducted on the Asian and Pacific Islanders (API) demographics resulting in the portrayal of the Asian community as the model minority.
Research has found that Asians have failed to reach senior leadership positions in corporate America. In fact, this has been referred to as  the curse of the “model minority.”

What can we do?

Wes Hom, Ascend Vice President and national board member, will lead a
discussion to shed light on misconceptions about APIs and why so few APIs in corporate America reach the C-suite level. The session will focus on:

•  Are APIs represented throughout the leadership teams of global corporations? Data from our research will be presented.
•  Are there cultural implications that affect their ability to realize their aspirations?
•  How do we overcome these barriers, myths, and or excuses?
•  How will this make us a more diverse, inclusive and stronger organization?

The event will be sponsored and co-hosted by Exelon Corporation, the nation's leading competitive energy provider. Exelon is a Fortune 100 company that works in every stage of the energy business: power generation, competitive energy sales, transmission and delivery.
